Javier Boyas

Javier F. Boyas, PhD, MSW, is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Georgia. He earned his PhD degree in Social Work from Boston College and his MSW degree from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.  Dr. Boyas’ research focuses on the social determinants of health among minority communities, with emphasis in Latino global health. Most recently he has examined the predictors of sun protective behaviors among Latino day laborers. Dr. Boyas’s research has been supported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Among G. Carter Foundation.  His work has been published in the following journals: Children & Youth Services Review, Social Work in Public Health, Hispanic Health Care International, Journal of Cancer Research and Clinical Oncology, Journal of Skin Cancer and American Journal of Men’s Health. Link to Dr. Boyas Page
